Pastor appreciation month 201811/12/2023 ![]() ![]() If he is abusive and controlling, he is going to have to explain to Jesus why he thought he was truly in charge rather than Christ, who is the head of the church. If a pastor is neglecting the Church, he must explain to Jesus why he became lazy. He is responsible for your soul and the care of it and he will have to explain to Jesus, your Pastor’s boss, about the work he did and the things he did. The study that he puts in to preach and the work that he puts in to counsel and shepherd the people is something that takes a lot of his time. It is not my goal here to rehearse benefits of church membership but maybe I can do that at a different time.įirst reason to appreciate your pastor is because “they watch over your souls, as those who must give account.” Your pastor is not doing what he is doing for himself but for the people of God. I hope that as you read this you are already doing the first part of what is called which is to be submitted to Elders or Pastors at a local church. Let them do so with joy and not grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” I think if we think about what is being said here I think that we will want to appreciate our pastor more that once a year. Hebrews 13:17 say, “ Obey those who rule over you and be submissive, for they watch over your souls, as those who must give account. Like I said, the day to day grind that is going on in the church is a lot for anyone to handle. With that said, I would like to encourage you to appreciate your pastor for more than once a year. (Yes, your pastor works far more than once a week!) Hopefully your pastor is trusting God to give the increase in the congregation but there is a side to him that would love to see the fruit of his labor in preaching and counselling and all the other various things that he does throughout the week. Pastoral ministry is hard and when in the day to day grind of the Church’s mess, there are times that a pastor may not see the fruit of his labor. This means that pastors all over the country will get a chance to see a glimpse of how their ministry is affecting those that are under their care.
